About

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the first worldwide celebration of enterprise, which aims to unleash young people’s enterprising ideas and address some of society’s biggest issues, from poverty reduction through to climate change.

It was inspired by the UK’s own Enterprise Week and founded by Make Your Mark and the Kauffman Foundation, the world’s largest foundation dedicated to entrepreneurship. Activities from speeches and speednetworking through to large scale competitions inspired, connected, informed, mentored and engaged the next generation of entrepreneurs. And, while it may be global in scope, at its heart are many local initiative reflecting the customs and entrepreneurial culture of the many countries taking part.

Get involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009

Global Entrepreneurship Week and Enterprise Week UK will take place from 16 - 22 November. There are lots of ways to get involved in the week:

Run an event

By running an event during Enterprise Week in the UK, you’ll also be taking part in Global Entrepreneurship Week! And add a global flavour to it! Some case studies of what events took place this year with an international theme will be coming soon. In the meantime check out the Ideas Bank for some ideas.

If you have offices abroad, then contact the host organisation and run an event in that country. For more information on which organisations host Global Entrepreneurship Week in specific countries, contact marilise@makeyourmark.org.uk or chris@makeyourmark.org.uk

Pass on global contacts

If you have good relations with international companies and you think they’d be interested in getting involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week in their country or here in the UK, let us know! Email marilise@makeyourmark.org.uk or chris@makeyourmark.org.uk

Why should I get involved?

Reach a larger number of young people with a passion for enterprise

Global Entrepreneurship Week is an opportunity to reach out to new audiences of young people. For your Enterprise Week 2009 activities think about connecting with those who have international links e.g. Diaspora communities, or share global interests e.g. climate change.

Help connect young people internationally

The two Signature Activities for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008 were designed to help you meet like-minded people across the world. “Speednetwork the Globe” and “Unleash It!” connected thousands of young people in other countries both online and offline and provided a unique international experience for young people everywhere. Details of signature activities for 2009 will be coming in March so watch this space…
