Box OneCloud offers 30 applications to businesses in one central location. The idea is to allow employees to access, edit and share their workflows on their mobiles and through the cloud, with all changes updated immediately.
By storing both the applications and the data in Box’s cloud, it also saves on internal hardware costs and software licences, whilst making files accessible from anywhere.
Initially Box OneCloud is only available on Apple iOS devices. However, the company said it was planning to roll it out to Android and other mobile operating systems.
Applications available so far in OneCloud include QuickOffice, Adobe EchoSign and PDF Expert. There are also tools for developers to build new applications, which can be stored and access in the same way. Once hosted in the Box cloud, there will even still be access to these original applications offline.

The PC manufacturer’s forthcoming HP Z1 All-in-One Workstation will not include touch-screen technology, suggesting that Windows 7 Professional is likely to remain the de-facto operating system for many enterprise users.

Microsoft has also claimed that the Metro interface on Windows 8 can be used with a traditional mouse, and there is no requirement for a touch screen.

The HP Z1 is set to start shipping in April. Users will be able to pre-configure units with costs ranging from £1349 to £2000. The design of the system also means that IT admins can carry out tool-less upgrades to help increase the longevity of the device.

With Windows 8 widely tipped to launch later this year, there is no word yet on the types of enterprise-class devices that will be offered. However, it is likely that business specific systems with touch-screen functionality are going to be significantly more expensive than the £1340 base price of the HP Z1.

Commenting on the news, Sir Richard Branson said: “This has the potential to transform the prospects of thousands of young people. The entrepreneurs of today will be the job creators of tomorrow so I’m delighted that the government has listened to those at the very start of their careers. The official Budget document said: “Later this year, [the government will] pilot the best way to introduce a programme of enterprise loans to help young people set up and grow their own businesses. “The country is full of gifted and enterprising people so this pilot, which crucially has business mentoring and support at its heart

One Training expert from JLT (a Training charity) has said that businesses are being held back because of the lack of funding and has urged the goverment to pressure financial institutions to hand out more money during the National Apprenticeship week in order to create more jobs.

Companies have complained that the lack of financial backing is preventing them from taking on apprentices because they can’t afford the resources that are need.

It will be interesting to see if the government do anything during the National Apprenticeship week and I for one will be keeping my eyes peeled to see what happens.

David Fishwick, an entrepreneur will be followed by Channel 4′s new show Bank of Dave. This series is from Finestripe Productions and it shows David Fishwick as he tries to create a bank from scratch and turn a profit within six months. The show will chart his progress from the initial idea to carrying it through to fruition. It will be broadcasted in 2012.

Fishwick was quoted saying: “There are businesses and individuals out there who are hardworking and honest but through no fault of their own, they can no longer get loans. They are being ignored and let down by the banks, while bankers still pay themselves enormous salaries and bonuses. My bank may be tiny but it will be better than a High Street bank. I want to show how banking can be socially responsible and not greedy and reckless and I’m going to do what the High Street banks just can’t bring themselves to do—give away any profits to charity.” On another occasion he said: “I may not know much about banking, but I can’t do much worse than they have! I know it won’t be easy, but by hook or by crook I’ll get this bank open with sheer Northern Grit and determination.”

Series producer Ian Lilley commented saying: “Dave wants to create a simple back to basics bank that benefits its customers more than its shareholders and he’s determined to find a way through the incredibly tight regulations. Anyone else attempting this would have already given up, but as filming progresses I realise we’re just at the start of a crazy journey and I’m beginning to think that Dave—in his own irreverent and funny way—just might succeed.”

What do you think, can Dave do it? Stay tuned to Channel 4 to find out.
